Went to North Africa in January - Memorial Rites Are Held Monday
Strawberry Point, Ia. - Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dillon received a telegram from the war department stating that Pfc. Robert V. Fry was killed in action in north Africa, March 10, 1943. He had made his home with the Dillons the last five years. He previously had been reported as missing.
Robert was born near here March 14, 1919. He enlisted Jan. 10, 1941. Was at Camp Claiborne, La., 10 months, then in Ireland 11 months and went to north Africa, Jan. 8, 1943.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Goldie Fry, three sisters, and five brothers, Mrs. Kenneth Phelps, Mrs. Charles Lincoln and Mrs. Elwin Sargent, all of Strawberry Point; Leonard Fry, in the south Pacific area; Donald, Woodward, Ia.; Melvin and Ralph, Davenport; Leo, Greeley, Ia, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Troup, Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Mamie Fry, Greeley.
Memorial services were held Monday at 8 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church.

Greeley, Ia. - Memorial services for Private Robert Fry, 24, were held Sunday afternoon in the Christian Church here. Pvt. Fry was reported killed in action in the European theater in March, 1943. the Rev. Rideout, of Dubuque, officiated.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Mamie Fry, of Strawberry Point; five brothers, Pvt. Leonard Fry, in an Army hospital in Texas; Donald of Woodward; Ralph and Melvin, in the Orphans' Home at Davenport, and Richard, who is making his home with his aunt, Mrs. Mary Fry, near Greeley; and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Lincoln, Stanley, Mrs. Kenneth Phelps, Elkader, and Mrs. Elmer Sergeant, Strawberry Point.
His father, Gus Fry, preceded him in death on July 4, 1934.
Dedication services were held at the cemetery.
