Funeral services for Ben Boone Frese were held Monday, Aug. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona, with Rev. Carroll Brown officiating.

Ben Boone Frese, the son of John Benjamin Henry and Harriet (Boone) Frese was born April 9, 1911 at Guttenberg, Iowa. He graduated from the Monona High School in 1928 and attended Upper Iowa University at Fayette, Iowa.

He was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church and for many years was custodian there. He was also a member of the IOOF until it was disbanded, at the present time was serving as secretary of the Monona City Cemetery Association.

On Dec. 28, 1930 he married Elizabeth "Bettie" Durr at Council Bluffs, Iowa. They had two children, Yvonna and Curtis.

Ben was a self-employed painter-decorator for most of his life. In 1944 he began several years of employment with Collins Radio, Cedar Rapids. In 1965 he joined the Bob Ireland Painting and Decorating Company of Joliet, Illinois and worked until 1970 when he returned to Monona.

He died at his home Friday, Aug. 13, 1982 at the age of 71.

Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant sister Helen and an infant brother Robert. Surviving him is his wife Bettie; his daughter, Mrs. Edward (Yvonne) Redemske of Romeoville, Illinois; his son Curtis of Wilson, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Karen Gehris, Cheryl Horne, Paul and David Redemske; three great grandchildren, Beth and Luke Gehris, and Gena Horne; his brother Ed Frese of Postville; a nephew Robert Frese; and niece Mary Lou Stewart.
