After an illness of many weeks, death claimed Mrs. Lydia Friedlein, well known resident of Guttenberg and of the Osterdock community for many years, at 5:00 a.m. Sunday Nov. 18. The death was due to a heart Ailment.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 O'Clock at the Methodist church, Rev. Clifford H. Fox officiating. Burial was in the family lot at Bethel cemetery near Osterdock, Ia.Lydia Frances Moser Friedlein was born September 16, 1870, in Mallory township of Clayton county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Moser. She spent her childhood on a farm in Mallory Township and attended rural schools.
On September 17, 1889 she was united in marriage with Charles Friedlein and they resided on a farm near Osterdock. Mr. Friedlein passed away in 1919 and she continued to make her home there until 1941 when she moved to Guttenberg.
They were the parents of six children, two of whom died in infancy, while those surviving are Mrs. Paul (Flossie) Troester, Osterdock; Martin Friedlein of Colesburg; Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Brandenburg of Guttenberg, and Ira Friedlein of Osterdock. She also is survived by eight grandchildren, Lydia and Betty Troester, Charles and Gloria Friedlein, Verla and Eunice Brandenburg, Richard and Elaine Friedlein.
Brothers surviving are William, Andrew J., L.D., and John R. Moser all of Guttenberg.Two brothers and one sister Henry, and Fred Moser, and Mrs. George Hansel preceded her in death.
Mrs. Friedlein had reached the age of 75 years, two months and two days at the time of her death. Mrs. Friedlein was a member of the Guttenberg Methodist Church.
