Funeral services for Harold Koth were held Saturday, March 28, 1998 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, IA. The Rev. T. M. Marks officiated.

Harold Victor Koth, the son of Ross Charles and Altha (Lenth) Koth, was born September 18, 1913 on a farm in Clayton County, near Monona, IA. He passed away Thursday, March 26, 1998, in Veterans Memorial Hospital at Waukon, IA. He had reached the age of 84 years, six months and eight days. Harold was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He attended the Luana Consolidated School.

On October 19, 1952 he was married to Caroline A. Schmidt in the Zalmona Presbyterian Church in Ludlow Township, north of Postville, IA. To this union two children were born. Harold and Caroline farmed all of their lives. Harold enjoyed the farming and he was also a livestock dealer and trucker. For many years he served as president of the Frankville Cheese Factory. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and served as a member of the Church Council.

Harold and Caroline moved to Postville in 1985. He enjoyed going to the local coffee shop to visit with his friends. Harold was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Postville for a short time.

He is survived by his wife Caroline; his son Charles (Jane) Koth of Winona, MN; his daughter Sharon Koth of Waukon, IA; six grandchildren, Courtney Kilen, Leslie, Brittany, Zachary, Nicholas and Chloe Koth; two great grandchildren, Savannah and Shakannah Kilen; one brother Kenneth (Romilda) Koth, one sister, Helen Green, all of Postville; an aunt, Rosina Wilker of Guttenberg, IA; other relatives and many friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, a grandson, Jon Koth, and a sister, Margaret Johanningmeier.

Casketbearers were Burnell Koth, Alvin Lenth, Keith Koth, Vernon Wilker, Dale Green, Foster Koth.
