Funeral services for Irene Kliefoth were held Wednesday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Monona with Pastor Terry Hudson officiating. Burial was at Monona City Cemetery, Monona. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements.
Irene Emma Kliefoth, daughter of James and Emma (Mueller) Havelick, was born June 4, 1911 at Wishek, North Dakota. She was baptized at Wishek, ND, and confirmed March 15, 1936 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. She received her education in North Dakota and at the Farmersburg School.
Irene was united in marriage to Harry Kliefoth on April 7, 1934 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Farmersburg. They lived on the Kliefoth farm for 10 years. They moved to Monona in 1944 and she lived in the same house for 53 years.
Irene was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Peace Circle.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harry, who died December 28, 1966; one brother, Clarence; three sisters, Dorothy Hinzman, Adelina Havelick and Esther Havelick; one niece and one nephew.
Survivors include three sisters, Margaret Kennett of Mt. Home, AR, Darlene Whittle and Donna Melcher, both of Monona; one brother, Donald Havelick of Monona, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Robert, Raymond, Ronald, and Richard Hinzman and Larry and Doug Whittle and Dick Kennett.
