She was born on Sept. 2, 1938, in Millville, daughter of Marion and Ida (Bittner) Miller. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. She received her education from the Millville and Guttenberg schools.

She married Donald Tuecke on Feb. 14, 1955, at St. John's Church in Guttenberg; he preceded her in death. Three children were born to this union, Donald Jr., Penny Sue and Lyle John.

Betty had various jobs, including factory work, nurse's aide and waitress. She also worked for a fragrance and jewelry distributor and was a TOPS coordinator.

Betty was a charter member of TOPS 917, Garnavillo, since October 1975, where she also served in its office since 1975. In 1977, she was appointed area captain and in 1990, coordinator for TOPS, serving 18 counties in Iowa. She also did bus tours for 12 years. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Betty loved to travel. She traveled all 50 states, plus many Canadian provinces and Mexico. She collected teddy bears, salt and pepper sets, porcelain dolls, enjoyed embroidery work, reading and working on her computer. She had several poems published and had a desire for country and western music. She had two special pets, Rascal, the family dog, and Snickers, her cat, which she referred to as her little girl. Betty enjoyed her indoor and deck plants, watching the birds and the occasional raccoon that came to the deck area. The outdoor cats and kittens offered tons of entertainment for Betty.
