Funeral services are being held this afternoon for Mrs. John H. Koopman at 1:30 o'clock at Schutte Funeral Home and 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. A. O. Nessit of the Clermont Lutheran Parish officiating. Mrs. Koopman passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Howard Henkes of Harpers Ferry on Monday.

Johanna Elisa Deters Koopman was born in Oldenburg, Germany, January 12, 1880 and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Howard Henkes, Harpers Ferry, October 3, 1949, at the age of 69 years.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in her native town.

Mrs. Koopman was united in marriage with John Heinrich Koopmann (sic) on December 3, 1901. To this union nine children were born, all of whom survive.

She and her husband and two children came to the United States May 5, 1906, setting up the family home in the Postville community until six years ago they moved to Farmersburg. For the past nine months she made her home with her daughter.

She is survived by her children, Gerhardt of Luana, Alfred of Waterloo, Frieda (Mrs. Howard Henkes) of Harpers Ferry, Ella (Mrs. Eldon Kurth) of Luana, Adolph of Farmersburg, Harold of Monona, Richard of Farmersburg, Irma (Mrs. Paul Hess) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Harlan of Postville. A brother and sister in Germany also survive and there are 31 grandchildren and one great grand child.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three grandchildren, her parents, two sisters and a brother.
