Henry John Kutzbach, son of Henry Kutzbach and Wilhelmina Meier Kutzbach, was born near Farmersburg, January 21, 1900. He was baptized on August 19, 1900, in St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg and confirmed on April 5, 1914, in the same church.

On April 27, 1921, he was united in marriage to Elsie Schlitter in the Lutheran parsonage at Monona. He lived on the farm on which he was born until he retired in June of 1946, and moved into Farmersburg. He passed away on Tuesday, December 14, shortly after suffering a heart seizure while driving alone in his car.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two half brothers, three half sisters, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie; one son, Harland, of Farmersburg; one daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Lavon) Kregel, of Postville; one half sister, Mrs. Richard Kuthe of Monona; three sisters, Mrs. Adele Heins, and Mrs. Ernest Kluth of Monona, and Mrs. G. J. Benzing of Calmar; six grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. R. H. Steege on Friday, December 17, at 1:30 p.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. Burial was in the F.& W. Cemetery near Farmersburg.
