Klinge, Ethel Eleanor (Bernhard) 1914-1993

Funeral services for Ethel Klinge were held Monday, April 19, 1993, at 11:00 a.m. at the Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona. Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.

Ethel Eleanor Klinge, daughter of Clarence and Emma (Hardtke) Bernhard, was born November 28, 1914 at Monona, Iowa. She graduated from Monona High School.

Ethel was united in marriage to Kermit Klinge on August 16, 1934 at the Methodist Church in Monona. To this union two sons were born. She and her husband operated the Monona Locker. She had also been employed at Theis Clothing.

Ethel died Thursday, April 15, 1993 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, where she had been a resident since November 27, 1990. She had reached the age of 78 years, 4 months, and 18 days.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Kermit, who died November 15, 1991; her parents; three brothers, Howard, Cliff, and Gordon; and one sister, Ruth.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Gene and Pat Klinge of Maynard, Iowa, and Jim and Ann Klinge of Iron River, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Peggy & Scott Hipsher, Kathy & Scott Friauf, Vicki Klinge, Kevin Klinge, Amy & Jens Gregerson, and Karen Klinge; two great grandchildren, Taylor & Lexi Friauf; one brother, Clarence "Pete" Bernhard of Garnavillo, Iowa; four sisters, Helen Wold of Monona, Iowa, Viola Alderson of Wadena, Iowa, Georgene Schmidt and Beverly Mazuk, both of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
