Elmer Klinkenberg Last Rites Held

Funeral services for Elmer Klinkenberg, 71, of Dubuque, were held Wednesday morning, Oct. 20, at 11 o'clock at St. John Lutheran church in Farmersburg with Rev. R. E. Langholz of Monona officiating.

Burial was in the Farmersburg and Wagner cemetery.

MR. Klinkenberg had been in ill health for the last five years and died at Dubuque from a stroke Monday morning, Oct 18.

He was born a son of William and Mary, nee Moeller, Klinkenberg, Dec. 26, 1899, at St. Olaf. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran church at Clayton Center by Rev. F. W. Seifert and was confirmed at Elkader by Rev. Franke. He received his education in the rural schools near St. Olaf.

He was married to Redena Ohloff at Elkader, Jan. 26, 1922. They farmed in the St. Olaf area until 1944 when they moved to a farm near Luana. In 1960 they retired to Dubuque.

Mr. Klinkenberg had served as an officer of the Lutheran churchs at Farmersburg and Luana.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Glen (Wilma) Zurcher and Amanda, and two brothers, Arno and Marvin.

Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Iva Mae) Gruel of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Joseph (Vernida) Wall, Mrs. Norbert (Eloise) Koppes, and Mrs. Arthur (Mary Jean) Johnson, all of Dubuque; two sisters, Mrs. W. F. (Alma) Voelker and Mrs. George (Mahala) Rehfeldt, both of Humboldt, S. D.; a brother, Carl of Elkader; 22 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Music at the services was provided by St. John Lutheran church choir. Mrs. James Walter was the organist.

Casketbearers were: Lee, Orval, and Richard Klinkenberg; David and Dennis Koppes, Michael and Thomas Wall and Gerald Palas.
