Jessie Kinsley Passes Away
Funeral services were held for Jessie Kinsley, Monona, on April 7 at Schultz Funeral home in Monona. Rev. Raymond Pacholke of the Garden City United Methodist conducted the service. Music was provided by the Merrill Womach Quartet. Interment was in the Monona City Cemetery.
Jessie Lorena Killen Kinsley, daughter of John and Elizabeth Buehner Killen, was born in Monona, Iowa, on May 18, 1881. She died at the Memorial hospital in Prairie du Chien on April 4 after an illness of 17 days.
Jessie attended school in Monona and graduated from the Monona High School in one of the first graduating classes. She also attended Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois and completed her education in Europe. She taught German in Postville High School for two years prior to her marriage.
Jessie was united in marriage to Rufus Guy Kinsley on April 4, 1906. There were three children born to this union - John Killen, Robert Benjamin and Margaret Elizabeth.
They lived in Monona until 1916 when they moved to Midoaks Farms south of McGregor where they lived until 1956. She then moved to the Killen residence in Monona where she lived until her move to the hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Margaret A. Killen, her husband, Rufus Guy Kinsley and a son, John Killen Kinsley.
She leaves to remember her, her son, Robert Benjamin Kinsley of McGregor, her daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Kinsley Hefke of North Canton, Ohio, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a goodly number of other relatives and friends.
Jessie will be remembered for her gracious manner, her even disposition, and her loving nature and all who loved her will miss her very much.
