Services Held For Louis Oldag
Preston --- Funeral services for Louis G. Oldag, 89, who died Wednesday at Jackson County hospital, where he had been a patient since Monday, were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran church. Mr. Oldag was a former Luana resident.
Rev. G. D. A. Engelhardt officiated. Burial was in the Preston cemetery.
Mr. Oldag was born October 12, 1873 at Luana, the son of William and Elizabeth Foels Oldag. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He married Lovina Koos, March 7, 1899. They farmed for 29 years at Luana and then operated farms at Oelwein and Goose Lake, retiring to Preston in 1939.
He was a member of St. John's Church and an honorary member of the church brotherhood and the Preston volunteer fire department. He served as chief of the Luana firemen.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Amy) Hoff of Davenport; a son, Felix of Preston; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Jansehow of Dubuque and Miss Emma Oldag of Chicago. Preceding him were his wife in 1952, two brothers and a sister.
