Jason Carl Voelzke

Jason Carl Voelzke, son of Carlton and Edna M. (Muller) Voelzke, was born August 3, 1941 at Monona, Iowa. He passed away May 7, 1996 at his home in Giard Township, Clayton County, near Monona, Iowa. He was 54 years old.

Jason graduated from Monona High School in 1959. On October 3, 1964, he was married to Kathleen Ann Pixler at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The couple made their home on their farm east of Monona. Two children were born to this union, a son, Karlyn J. and a daughter, Angela Kay.

Jason was a 4-H Leader and had served over 20 years on the 4-H Youth Committee. He was a member of the board of directors of the Froelich Foundation and a member of the Clayton County Cattleman's Association, receiving the Cattleman of the Year Award in 1995. Working with his cow-calf operation was Jason's main joy.

He is preceded in death by his father, Carlton, his son, Karlyn and his father-in-law, Glen.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; a daughter, Angela and her husband, Bret Ammons; a grandson, Coty Ammons, all of St. Charles, Ill.; a brother, Audene Voelzke of Maquoketa; his mother, Edna Voelzke of Monona; his mother-in-law, Vera Pixler of Luana, a brother-in-law, Daniel Pixler and his wife, Kathy, of Monona, other relatives and many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services for Jason Voelzke were held Saturday, May 11, 1996 at St. John Lutheran Church at Luana, Iowa. The Reverend Jeffrey Ruetten officiated. Helmuth Landt was the organist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Inurnment will be at a later date.
