John Albert Nagel
Funeral services were held for John Albert Nagel, 84, Saturday, Oct. 22, 1988, at Leonard-Witt Funeral Home, Elkader. Rev. John Sieverts officiated the service with burial in the East Side Cemetery, Elkader. Pallbearers were Ralph Possehl, Robert Hendrickson, Roger Meskimens, Edward Boland, Tom Nagel and Earl Patrick.
Jack Nagel was born October 31, 1903, near Luana, the son of Amos and Sophia (Hammon) Nagel. He graduated from Waukon High School and attended college for several years.
October 20, 1942, he was united in marriage to Genevieve Dinan at Clinton. A son John was born to this union.
November 24, 1942 he entered the U. S. Army serving during W. W. II and was honorably discharged March 9, 1945. He returned to Elkader where he operated the United Roofing and Insulating Co. for many years. For the past number of years he has been residing at the Iowa Veterans home in Marshalltown, where he died Thursday afternoon, Oct. 20, 1988.
Survivors include his son John and wife Kay of Elkader; two grandchildren, Brett of Manchester and Cheri of Elkader; two brothers, Tom of St. Olaf and Fred of Guttenberg; four sisters, Celia Hodgins of Richland Center, Wis., Bertha Meskimens of Cedar Rapids, Mildred Ferguson of Walnut Creek, Calif. and Sybil Ewing of Corvallis, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his wife in November of 1968; two sisters, Lois and Vera; and four brothers, Louis, Ralph, Walter and Charles.
