Services for Homer Beck, who died on his farm near Elkport, early last Wednesday morning, were held at the late home last Saturday afternoon, Nov. 27, and from St. John's church in Garber at two o'clock. Burial was made in the Mt Harmony cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.
The deceased, Homer Dietrick Beck, son of Carl Dietrick Beck and his wife Amelia nee Helbig, was born February 16th, 1903, at Elkport, Iowa, reaching the age of 34 years, nine months and eight days.
Homer Beck spent his entire life, with the exception of six years, at the place of his birth-Elkport. He graduated from the elementary school in the year 1917 and since that time has been engaged in farming. Although he remained active up to his death he had been in poor health for a long time.
On January 8th, 1930, he was united in marriage to Violet Duwe at Dubuque, Iowa. Three children were born to this union. Gwendolyn, Kathryn and Dennis Lee.
The deceased was a member of the Lutheran church at Littleport, Iowa.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, the afore-mentioned children and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Elnora Berns, Elkader; Mrs. Agnes Noggle, Strawberry Point; Mrs Edna Michals, Springfield, Ill.; Mrs. Isabelle Lau, Oelwein; Mrs. Jeanette Yeisley, Cedar Rapids; Clarence and Joe Beck of Littleport, Milton, a brother, preceded him in death. One sister, Veola died in infancy. Also a large number of nephews, nieces and friends.
