OBITUARY: (Probably from Postville, IA newspaper) Date of Death - Jun 03, 1930
Following a protracted period of failing health, Mrs. William Moritz of this city entered into eternal rest at her home in this city at eleven o'clock on Tuesday morning, aged within thirteen days of eighty seven years.
She was born June 16, 1843 at Presekom, Mecklenburg, Germany. In 1868, at the age of 23 years, she came to the United States. Two years later, July 4, 1870, she was united in marriage to Wilhelm Moritz at Clayton Center and for almost sixty years they have traveled the pathway of life together in happy accord. This union was blessed with nine children, two of whom preceded their mother in death.
For almost 32 years the family had their home on a farm a few miles south of Luana. In the year 1902 they retired from the farm and moved to Postville, where they have resided continously since.
Mrs. Moritz was a fine type of christian womenhood, and kind an indulgent wife and mother, a good neighbor and true friend, and all who came to know this estimable will mourn her passing and sincerely sympathize with those bound to her by a closer tie.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Herman Moritz of Monona; and six daughters, Mrs. Emma Peters of Monona; Mrs. Celia Stadtmiller of Luana; Miss Elizabeth Moritz of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Ella Hubacher of Mason City; Mrs. Minnie Klotzbach of Neenah, Wis.; and Mrs. Lillian Meckfessel of Cleveland, Ohio, all of whom were at her bedside when her wearied spirit to flight. She is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city on Friday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. R.B. Garten officiating. Interment will be made in the Postville Cemetery.
