Services for Margaret Pritchard held in Elgin Church

Funeral services for Margaret Ellen Pritchard, 83, Farmersburg, were held Saturday July 2 at 10 a.m. at Elgin Lutheran Church, Elgin, with Rev. Bruce L. Hanson officiating. Leonard Funeral Homes Inc. were in charge of the arrangements. Interment was in Elgin Cemetery.

Margaret died Wednesday, June 29 at her home in Farmersburg.

Margaret Ellen Pritchard, daughter of Isaac and Esley (Boleyn) Monnahan, was born Feb. 6, 1911 at Elgin. She was raised and educated in the area. Margaret moved to Castalia with her family for a short time but returned to Elgin.

Margaret was united in marriage to Walter A. Pritchard on June 30, 1928. Twelve children were born to this union. Together they farmed over the years in the Elgin, Monona and Brainard area. Upon retirement they moved to Farmersburg. Walter died Dec. 30, 1987. Margaret continued to reside at their home in Farmersburg.

Besides her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her three brothers, two sisters and by her parents.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Ilo Mae) Corbin of Volga, Mrs. Marvin (Marion) Van Sickle of Hawkeye and Barbara Peterson of Mederville; nine sons, Amos and Alfred of Littleport, Leslie and Lyle of McGregor, Richard of Garber, Gary of Farmersburg, Robert of Atlanta, Mo., Brad of Loveland, Colo. and Rodney of Monona.

Also surviving are fifty-one grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, a brother, William Monnahan, Oelwein; two sisters, Minnie Davis, Minneapolis, Minn. and Wilma Herriman, Wadena; and several nieces and nephews.
