Funeral services for Clarence Richard Pape were held Saturday, February 24, at 1:30 p.m., Eldorado, with Rev. Richard E. Zellmer officiating. Burial was in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery at Eldorado. Schutte Funeral Home of Postville was in charge of arrangements.
Clarence Richard Pape was born October 26, 1901, in Dover township, Fayette county. His parents were Dietrich and Anna Guenther Pape. He was baptized in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Eldorado, on February 23, 1902, by Pastor G. Blessin. He attended rural school in the community and was confirmed in the Christian faith of April 1, 1917, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Eldorado.
He farmed the home place near West Union for many years. About 16 years ago his health failed and he sold the farm and went to make his home with his brother, Grant and Martha Pape on a farm near Luana. He died at the Postville Hospital Wednesday, February 21.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, John and Grant, and one sister, Bessie.
Surviving are two brothers: Fred W. of West Union and George of Clermont; four sisters: Mrs. Richard (Erna) Thieman of Waverly, Mrs. Floyd (Blanche) Saurbrei, Mrs. Lillie Dorn and Mrs. Gladys Huck, all of Tripoli; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Martha Pape of Luana, with whom he made his home, and many nieces and nephews.
