Siegele Services Held Here Sunday
Carl F. Siegele, 72, a native of McGregor, Died Thursday, Apr. 5 at his home at Iowa City where he had lived the past nine months.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 8 at the Thornburg Funeral Home, McGregor, with Rev. James Hearns, pastor of the the Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Legion services at the graveside.
Organist was Mrs. Nettie Coon and Mrs. Donald Strutt sang "Peace in the Valley." Pallbearers were Dean Dull, Lowell Siegele, Les Davies, Earl Davies, Jr., Norman Scrogum and Gordon Lord.
Mr. Siegele was born May 9, 1889 at McGregor, the son of Louis and Clara Foley Siegele. On Sept. 11, 1917 he was married to Hazel Helm at Mason City. He was a lifetime resident of McGregor, except for the past nine months when he lived in Iowa City. He was a farmer and retired state highway employee. Mr. Siegele was a member of the Methodist Church and American Legion and had served on the city council of McGregor.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Frances Klotzbach of McGregor and Mrs. Eleanor Klotzbach of Iowa City, three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Henkes of Farmersburg, and Mrs. Amy Perry and Mrs. Ruth Hanson of Denver, Colo; two brothers, Walter Siegele of Waukon and John Siegele of McGregor; and three grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, one brother and one sister.
