Michael Pratt

Michael R. Pratt, age 47, of Gainesville, GA died Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Shepherd Spinal Center from injuries sustained in an accident December 8, 2008. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 7 at the First Church of the Nazarene with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville, GA. The Reverend Bill McCumber and Reverend Don Moore officiated.

Casketbearers were brothers-in-law Gary Brown, Adam Kelley and Randy Gerleman, best friend Jeff Thornton, and co-workers Bobby Hendrix, Mike Horsey, Mike Chupp and Chad Stitchcomb.

Mike was born October 19, 1961 in Waukon, the son of Raymond and Sharon (Stendel) Pratt. He was baptized at Elgin Lutheran Church and confirmed at St John's Lutheran Church, Waukon. Mike graduated from Waukon High School in 1980. April 2, 1980 he married Rebecca Gerleman in Decorah. He was employed with Allied Transportation at the time of his accident. He was a member of the Teamsters Union.

Mike is survived by his wife Becky of Gainesville, GA; four children, Wendy Pratt of Gainesville, GA, Terri (Nick) Wright of Dawsonville, GA, and Nicole Pratt and Kayla Pratt of Gainesville, GA; three grandchildren, Andy and Matthew Veal of Gainesville, GA and Hanna Wright of Dawsonville, GA; his parents, Ray and Sharon Pratt of Waukon; three sisters, Ellen (Gary) Brown of Cumming, GA, Teresa (Brian) Martin of Waukon, and Jennifer (Adam) Kelley of Dawsonville, GA; his sister-in-law, Pam (Pat) Sullivan of Decorah; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Azel and Norma (Warner) Pratt and Herman and Victoria (Wikan) Stendel.

A local memorial service will be held at a later date.
