"Aged Lady Dies, Impressive Services Are Held at St. John's Lutheran Church"
The funeral of Henrietta Emilie Radach (nee Melzee) a well known lady, who died Wednesday afternoon, June 24th, was held at her late home and at St. John's Lutheran Church Sunday afternoon, June 28th. Rev. Lehne, pastor of the St. John's Lutheran Church, conducted the services. Burial took place at the City cemetery.
News of her death came as a distinct shock to the community of many friends and relatives. Although she had not been critically ill for many days for her friends and relatives did not realize the end was so near and when the news of her death was announced it was received with great sorrow.
Mrs. Radach was 83 years, 2 months and 7 days of age. She was born in Lappow, Landsberg in Prussia, Germany, April 17, 1842. She was the fifth of six children and spent her childhood in Germany. In 1870, she was united in marriage to John Radach. In 1883, they decided to emigrate to America and came directly to Guttenberg and here they have lived ever since. Five children were born to them, three of whom preceded her in death, two in Germany and one in Guttenberg. She leaves to mourn, her husband and two sons, Edwin of Luana, Iowa and Gustav of Australia. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to those who mourn her loss.
CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank our friends and neighbors who assisted us in the hours of our sorrow, especially the members of the Ladies Aid Society, Rev. Lehne and the Choir. Mr. John Radach and Edwin Radach.
