Former Resident of Guttenberg Is Dead"
John Radach, a former long-time highly regarded resident of Guttenberg, passed away at the home of his son, E. W. Radach, at Luana on Saturday at the age of 86 years.
Deceased was born in Germany, where he grew to manhood and received his education. In 1870, he was married in Germany to Miss Henrietta Emilie Melzee, who preceded him in death on June 24, 1925.
In the year 1883, the family came to America settling at Guttenberg, Iowa, where the deceased resided continuously until after the death of Mrs. Radach, when he went to Luana to make his home with his son, E. W. Radach and family, where he was always given the tenderest of care and where he spent the remainder of his ambitious and Christian life.
Mr. Radach was a kind and true father and friend and a faithful member of the Lutheran Church. While a resident of Guttenberg, he was successfully engaged as sexton of the city cemetery here for many years. His death is deeply mourned by two sons, E. W. Radach, of Luana, and Gustave Radach of Australia, and other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss him.
The body was brought to Guttenberg for burial and funeral services were conducted by Rev. Emil Lehne at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in this city on Tuesday afternoon. Internment was made in the City cemetery. The funeral was largely attended.
