Clifton Yearous
Clifton Alfred Yearous was born Oct. 16, 1914 on the rural Elkader farm of his parents, Clifton C. and Louise (Schmidt) Yearous. He attended rural school near Marquette.
Aug. 31, 1954 he married Arlene Timmerman at St. Paul's United Methodist Church parsonage in Waukon. Cliff farmed in French Creek Township near Churchtown from 1939 - 1979 when he retired and they moved to their North Fork home in Ludlow Township.
He also worked for a time as an electrician and as custodian for Allamakee Implement. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He died Sunday, April 6, 1997 at his home; Cliff was 82.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Wyatt and wife Debra, Clay and wife Darlene, all of Waukon, and Wade of Viola, WI; a daughter Sarah Yearous of Walsh, CO; two brothers, August of Wadena and William and wife Alo of Elgin, and nine grandchildren.
A brother Ernest preceded him in death.
Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rueben Grueneich officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with arrangements by Martin Funeral Home.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Martin's.
Casket bearers are Delbert, LaVern and Robert Timmerman, Stanley Yearous, Robert Hansmeier and Ralph Reppe.
