Tim D. Gould

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m March 31, 2008 at Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport, Iowa with interment in the Union Cemetery, rural Littleport, Iowa. Leonard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Tim D. Gould was born October 8, 1959, in Sumner, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Ruth (Lang) Gould. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sumner. Tim lived his early years on the family farm near Littleport. He confirmed his baptism at Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport and attended school at Central Community Schools, Elkader, where he graduated in 1978.

In the spring of 1979, Tim began his employment with Theisen's in Elkader, (Norby's Farm Fleet) which he managed until his death. In 1984, he met Lisa Doerring of Postville and they were united in marriage on August 16, 1985, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville. The couple made their home in Elkader. One son was born to this union.

Tim's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, where he was known for his merciless harassment, whether deserved or not. He never lost his passion for farming, spending countless hours there working with the "critters and the crops" with his wife by his side.

Tim was known far and wide for his sense of humor, especially his practical jokes. His nieces and nephews learned early on that it's not always a good idea to repeat things Uncle Tim said. His outstanding customer service at Norby's was well known by all the regulars. If Norby's didn't have it, you didn't need it.

As a side line, Tim shared his love of "quantity cooking" by serving many family members and friends for receptions of all kinds and family get togethers. He was especially well known for his barbecued turkey sandwiches and potato salad. For many years, each winter would find Tim along with a group of family members and friends, trudging the hills of Clayton County in pursuit of white-tailed deer. Fishing and campfires also made special memories for Tim and his family.

Tim passed away suddenly on the evening of March 27, 2008, while doing what he loved – farm chores.

Tim is survived by his wife Lisa (Doerring) Gould, Elkader; son, Brent Gould, Edgewood; his mother, Ruth Gould, Edgewood; one sister, Diane (Mike) McClintock, Elkader; two brothers, David (Terri) Gould and Terry (Marlene) Gould, Strawberry Point; six nephews, Adam Gould and Aaron Gould, both of Nashville, TN; Ryan McClintock, Elkader, WesLee Gould, Strawberry Point, Aaron Troester, Monona, CJ Doerring, Strawberry Point; three nieces, Adriane McClintock, Cedar Rapids, Diash Doerring, Bagley, WI and Ashley Troester, Monona; his father and mother-in-law, Jim and Elaine Doerring, McGregor; in-laws, Laurie (Al) Troester, Monona, Larry Doerring, Strawberry Point, and Lee Doerring, Monona.
