MELVIN ARTHUR OLSON

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on April 1, 2008 at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, Iowa for Melvin Arthur Olson, 94, of Guttenberg, formerly of St. Olaf, who died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the Guttenberg Care Center, following a long illness. He was born August 17, 1913, near St. Olaf to Martin and Mabel (Nesteby) Olson. Burial was in the United Brethren Cemetery, rural Farmersburg, Iowa.

Melvin farmed the home farm near St. Olaf for many years until he retired. Before moving to the Guttenberg Care Center, he resided at Scenic Acres for many years, where he enjoyed gardening and working with flowers. He loved fishing and hunting, and over the years spent time making toys.

Survivors include his brother, Lorimer (Judy) Olson of Colesburg; a sister, Eunice Limkemann of Oelwein and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Joel in infancy and two sisters, Gladys Moeller and Adella Olson.
