Donald W. Stewart
GARNAVILLO, Iowa -- Donald W. Stewart, 83, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Garnavillo, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Garnavillo, with the Rev. Bruce Wrightsman officiating. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday, March, 1, at the church. The Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Garnavillo, is in charge of arrangements.
He was the son of Donald Stewart and Crena (Sarchett) Stewart.
Don served his country in the Army during World War II.
He farmed and was chief financial officer at Farmers Mutual, of Garnavillo, for many years.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, snowmobiling and cards.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Stewart, of Mesa; a daughter, Lisa (fiance, Ron Shea) McDowell, of Elkader; a son, D. Scott (Kathy) Stewart, of Farmersburg; four grandchildren, Keshia, Cameron and Kallie McDowell and Amanda Stewart; two brothers, Jerry (Anna Mae) Stewart, of Panora, and Duane "Cookie" (June) Stewart, of Hereford, Texas; and three stepdaughters, Vicki, Sharon and Betty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary; a brother, Delbert Dale, in infancy; a sister, Rose Ellen, in infancy; and two half-brothers, Virgil and Austin Beck.
