Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. September 22, 2007 at Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona, IA with interment at Council Hill Cemetery, rural Monona, IA. Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, IA, was in charge of arrangements.
Clifford Milo Starkey, 89, Luana, Iowa, died Monday, September 17, 2007, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, WI, following a long illness.
Clifford was born on March 5, 1918, in Marquette, Iowa, to James and Bessie (Knapp) Starkey. He attended Marquette High School and later in life, received his GED.
Clifford was united in marriage to Ruth Evelyn Moore on October 12, 1940. Two daughters were born to this union. Clifford was united in marriage to Donna Mae O’Neal on February 18, 1978.
Clifford worked for the Railroad for fourteen years. He also worked for the Iowa DOT for thirty years until his retirement in 1980. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, mushroom hunting, traveling, music and dancing. Clifford loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a life long member of the Am Vets.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Starkey, Luana; one daughter, Donna (LeRoy) Luepker, Lowden; five step-children, Kathy Bugenhagen, Luana, Kendall (Kathy) Bradley, McDonough, GA, Karen (Marshall) Burkhart, Wellman, Kelly (Jeffery) Smerud, Monona, Kirk (Carla) Krampeter, Boynton Beach, FL; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean (Steve) DeLong, Rochester, WA and two brothers, Harry Starkey, Bucoda, WA and James (Ella) Starkey, Centralia, WA.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Starkey-Smith; one sister, Dora Andersen and three brothers, Norman, Robert and Dean Starkey.
