Eliza P. Lowe was born in Pennsylvania on Sept. 8th, 1833. On May 3rd, 1849, she was united in marriage to Jeremiah Adams in Cooksville, Wis. To this union were born nine children, five of whom are still living. Susan, the oldest daughter, and David, the youngest son, reside in Nebraska, and Jacob, Charles, and Janey were present at their mother's deathbed. Mrs. Adams has been a resident of Volga since the fall of 1849. She united with the Freewill Baptist church in early girlhood.
"Aunt Eliza" Adams as she was familiarly known, was ever a kind hearted woman and none was ever refused a favor that was in her power to grant. As a nurse in cases of sickness Mrs. Adams had but few equals and many a bed of suffering has been made easier through her tender and willing services. She has been a great and constant sufferer herself for years and through it all she has been consistent in her demands for assistance, and never complained of her lot in life. A day or two before her death she expressed a willingness to depart this life.
She died at 2:30 a.m., on Thursday, March 20th, 1901, at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 12 days. The funeral was held from the M.E. church at 10:00 o'clock on Friday, Mar.21st, Rev. Perry officiating. Interment in the Volga cemetery.
