Hold Rites For Louisa Rugland
Louisa Alma Rugland, 81, died Nov. 4, 1980 at the Elkader Car Center, where she had been in failing health for the last month.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 6, 1980 at 1:30 p.m. at the Norway Lutheran Church in St. Olaf, with the Rev. Keith Klemm officiating. Pallbearers were Alan and John Katschowsky, John and Paul Rugland, Charter Leete and James Walter.
Louisa Alma Walter was born April 23, 1899 in Wagner Township, the daughter of William and Sophia (Buchman) Walter, She was baptized in the Christian faith May 28, 1899 and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmersburg March 16, 1913. She was an active member of the Norway Lutheran Church. She attended rural Clayton County schools and on Dec. 19, 1918, she was married to John Alvin Rugland of St. Olaf. They farmed in Wagner and Boardman Townships until 1954 when they moved to Elkader where Louisa was living at the time of her death. Three children were born to their marriage: Ervin Leo and Walter John, both of St. Olaf and Elizabeth Katschkowsky of Elkader.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and one brother, Glen Walter. In addition to her three children, survivors include six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Leete of Wadena; and brother, Karl Walter of Chandler, Ariz.
