Eugenia "Jean" Marie McGuire
Eugenia "Jean" Marie McGuire was born June 8, 1926 in Monona, Iowa, to parents Alex and Cecelia (Fassbinder) Berns. She died Saturday, Jan. 25, 1992, at her daughter's home in Monona, Iowa.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa. She received her education in St. Patrick Catholic grade school and Monona High School, graduating in 1944. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America and Monona Federated Women's Club.
On Nov. 27, 1945, she was married to Lloyd M. Keehner at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona. They had seven children. The couple farmed near Postville, Monona, and on Jean's parents farm near Farmersburg. Jean also worked for Monona Commission Company, Monona Greenhouse and MFL school. Lloyd died Nov. 24, 1968. On Jan. 8, 1983, Jean was married to Robert M. McGuire at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona. The couple made their home in Highland, WI.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Lloyd, her husband, Robert, who died July 30, 1987; her brother, Joseph Berns, and step-son, James McGuire.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, James and Mary Keehner, Monona, and Leigh and Gloria Keehner, Farmersburg; five daughters, Janice Hogan, West Des Moines, Mrs. Gene (Joanne) Ferguson, Monona, Mrs. Mark (Jolene) Cullen, Garner, Caroline Keehner, Dubuque, and Mrs. Michael (Dawn) Reardon of Farmersburg; 15 grandchildren, four step-sons, four step-daughters, two brothers, Hubert Berns, Monona, and Leo Berns of Postville, three sisters, Theresa Heller, Hazel Green, WI; Agnes Sullivan, Waterloo and Delores Wagner of Monona.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1992, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home in Monona was in charge of services.
Pallbearers were Gene and Ronnie Berns, Bill Wagner, John Sullivan, Jerry Heller and Tony Mueller.
