Irma Meyer

Funeral services for Mrs. Irma Meyer were held Wednesday, December 4, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverend Wayne Hagen and the Reverend Elizabeth Yates officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Irma Charlotte (Krambeer) Meyer, the daughter of John and Clara (Henkes) Krambeer, was born January 13, 1920 in Clayton County, near Postville, Iowa. She passed away Saturday November 30, 1996, in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa. She had reached the age of 76 years, 10 months and 16 days.

She was baptized March 3, 1939 and confirmed April 2, 1939, both in St Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, by the Reverend Frederick R. Ludwig. Irma attended a rural school in the Luana school district.

On November 30, 1938, Irma was married to Robert Lee Meyer in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. To this union, three children were born. The family lived on a farm in Post township, northeast of Postville. In 1993 Robert and Irma moved to their present home in Postville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert C. Meyer, six brothers, Verdell, Kenneth, Lester, Gerald, Burnell and Harold Krambeer and three sisters, Edna (Mrs. Herb Ihde), Lucille (Mrs. Louis McNally) and Lorene (Mrs. Freddie Nevermann).

Surviving are her husband, Robert, a daughter, Mrs. Doug (Kay) Ruckdaschel of Postville and a son, Keith (Lois) Meyer of Mesa, AZ; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Craig (Jacquelyn) Walby, of Postville, Steven (Ann) Ruckdaschel of Coralville, IA, David Ruckdaschel and friend, Marcy Bake, of Cedar Falls, IA, Mrs. Kent (Barbara) Walvatne, of Burnsville, MN, Mrs. Chad (Marcie) Taylor of Mesa, AZ, and Michael Ruckdaschel and friend, Misty Anderson, of Postville; five great grandchildren, Brandon, Jonathan and Elizabeth Walby, Brooke and Gregory Ruckdaschel, and a brother, Myron (Charlotte) Krambeer of New Albin, Iowa.

Irma was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and the Women of ELCA. She loved her family and was very proud of her grandchildren and looked forward to their many visits. Her greatest joys were the times she spent with her family and friends.

Casket bearers were LeAllen Nevermann, Terry McNally and Dean, Harold, Jr., Brad, Ken, Merlin and Luverne Krambeer and Calvin Ihde.
