HARLAN JOHN KRAMBEER

Harlan Krambeer Last Rites Held

Funeral services for Harlan John Krambeer, 48, were held Monday morning, Sept. 23, at 10:30 o'clock at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church with Rev. R. E. Langholz and Rev. Fred F. Darnauer officiating.

The body lay in state at the church from 9:30 o'clock until the time of the services. Members of Leslie H. Smith Post No. 519 of the American Legion served as an escort and conducted military rites at the grave. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery.

Mr. Krambeer became seriously ill in January of 1966. He spent several months in the Veterans' hospital at Iowa City. This last Sept. 3 he again was compelled to return to the Veterans' hospital, where he died Thursday, Sept. 19.

He was born a son of John and Gabrielle (Landt) Krambeer, Aug. 5, 1920, at Luana. He was baptized Aug. 16, 1920, at St. John Lutheran church in Luana and was confirmed at the same church, June 23, 1935, both when Rev. Henry Kumpf was pastor.

He received his education at Luana, Modesto, Calif., and was graduated from Monona High school.

He was married to Ramona Schultz, Oct. 16, 1941, with Rev. H. W. Siefkes performing the ceremony.

Mr. Krambeer served in the armed forces of his country from April 19, 1943 until Dec. 23, 1945. For 14 months, he served in central Europe, taking part in the Battle of the Bulge. He reached the rank of Sergeant.

Returning to Monona, he worked as the manager of the Northside apartments. He also served the community as driver of the ambulance and helped at many funerals. He also served as a fireman. He was a member of the American Legion and St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Lee Allen; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Krambeer; one brother, James; and one grandchild, Rayne.
