George Egbert
George Egbert, son of Daniel and Katherine Egbert, was born on August 12, 1847, at Terracopa Prairie, [Terre Coupe, St. Joseph Co., Indiana. In his early boyhood he, with his parents, moved to Monona, Iowa. In 1869 he was united in marriage with Sabra Humphrey. To this union two daughters were born, Mary and Kate Cecelia.
In 1901 the family moved to Mason City, Iowa, where a new home was made. His wife preceded him in death in 1910 and his daughter Mary on January 18, 1930. Since that time he has made his home with his granddaughter, Mrs. J.A. Sweet, of Mason City, Iowa, with the exception of one year which he spent with his daughter, Mrs. R.E. Farley, of Wroxton, Sask., Canada.
Mr. Egbert passed from this life on July 20, 1937, at the University Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa, at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 8 days. He leaves behind him as he passes to the great beyond, one daughter, Mrs. R.E. Farley of Wroxton, Sask., Canada; a sister, Mrs. Emeline Williams of Los Angeles; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In addition to these family members there are other relatives and friends who now find a vacant place in the list of living friends.
Funeral services were held in the Schultz Funeral Home at 2:30 Thursday, July 22, 1937. Burial was in the City Cemetery. Rev. H.W. Raduege of the Pilgrim Evangelical Church officiated.
