OBITUARY
FRANK D. M'COY

BORN-Dec. 25th-1870 at Ion, Allamakee county, died May 7th, 1902, at his home in North McGregor, Iowa.

December 17th, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Scrogum, and one child, a son, was born to them. Nearly three years ago, his health failing, he resigned his position here as night yard master, and in July 1899 went to Colorado, where it was hoped the change of climate might benefit him, not receiving the coveted restoration of health, in December he returned to his home here, where loving hands lavished every comfort upon him to stay the progress of the dread disease, but to no avail.

In the spring of 1882, Frank with his parents, brothers and sisters moved to this place where he has since lived, an honored and respected citizen. For several years prior to his resignation he was night yard master in the Milwaukee yards here, always faithful to his employer's interest, kind to his fellow-workmen, which won for him the highest regard and sincere friendship of employers, co-workers and friends.

There are few of whom we can say: "He never betrayed a trust or friend," but as we look back over the years of his illness, and note the loyalty of his friends, brother trainmen and members of the lodges, we know that it was because he was worthy of it, that the hand of good fellowship was given. He was a member of Duncan Lodge No. 36, K. P. of McGregor, and G. W. Sanborn Lodge No. 9, B. R. T., of Mason City. The members of these lodges, with the devoted wife, have been untiring in their efforts to brighten in every way possible the weary hours of suffering.

Wednesday noon, with his loved ones gathered at his bed side, he passed away to meet his reward in heaven for a life well spent here. The loved ones and friends who knew and honored him here, mourn with the bereaved widow and little son in their sad loss.

The funeral services were held in the Methodist church Friday afternoon at 3:10 o'clock, Rev. D.C. Dutton preaching an excellent and fitting sermon from the text, "He was a good man." 1st clause, 24th verse, 11th chapter of Acts.

A large concourse of friends gathered at the church to pay their last respects to their former associate and friend. The floral emblems from friends and the floral gate from the B.R.T. were a final tribute to the memory of a former comrade.

The deceased leaves to mourn his loss a widow and little son three years old, an aged mother, a sister Mrs. Curran, two brothers, Dan of this place and Will of St. Louis, who was unable by the recent death of his wife to attend.

The pall bearers were: Will Ennis, Will Greeley, John Delaney, James Kanene, Albert Bratsberg, Al. Hahn. Members of the B.R.T. from abroard: Calmar, James Canene, Oscar Peterson; Mason City, Elmer Vance and wife, Geo. Vance and wife, Herb Hanson and wife, Chas. Lafferty and wife, Frank Sinpaugh, John Delaney, Lou Hendrickson, Scott Bagley. Mr. Smith; Jackson Junction, John Corbett; Dubuque, Richard McAndrew and wife
