Dorothy Ricker

Dorothy Mae Ricker, daughter of Fred and Mary (Schlitter) Huff, was born March 26, 1912. She died Saturday, March 9, 1996 at the Lutheran Home Strawberry Point, Iowa, where she had been a resident for two years.

She was united in marriage to Charles Fett on December 18, 1928. Charles died January 1, 1947. In the fall of 1952, she was united in marriage to Arthur Ricker. He died January 26, 1966. Dorothy worked as a cook in various restaurants in Monona and Strawberry Point. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and gardening.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Charles and Arthur; a son, Gary Fett, a sister, Alberta Cahoon, a brother, Floyd Huff, two step-son, and one step-daughter.

Survivors include two daughters, Darlene and her husband, Gordon DeSotel of Dallas City, Illinois, and Marge and her husband, Robert Schmidt of Monona; two sons, Charles Fett and his wife, Dorothy of Rockton, Illinois and Richard Fett and his wife, Joyce of West Point; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters; a sister, Hazel and her husband, Floyd Wilkins of Monona; a brother, Everett Huff and his wife, Dorothy of Monona, a step-son, Leonard Ricker of Oelwein; a step-daughter, Marian Vorwald of Marion, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, march 12, 1996 at Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona. Reverend Anita Bane officiated. Pallbearers were her grandchildren. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services. Burial was in Council Hills Cemetery of rural McGregor.
