Edmund C. Ryan

Edmund C. Ryan died March 23 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tucson, AZ.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona. Burial was in the church cemetery with Father John Moran officiating.

Pallbearers were Greg and Brent Davis, Dale, Michael, Chris and Shaun Ryan. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of services.

He was born Feb. 21, 1906, in Monona, IA to parents Edward and Teresa Humphrey Ryan. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona and graduated from Monona High School and from machinist school in Omaha.

Oct. 6, 1936 he married Mary Sullivan at Immaculate Conception Church, Wexford, IA. They had 4 sons and 2 daughters. The couple farmed in the Monona area. They moved to their present farm in 1944. He retired from farming in 1972 but continued to live on the farm.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, a retired member of the Knights of Columbus, and a former member of Monona school board and Farm Bureau board. Preceding him in death were 3 brothers, Emmett, Dr. Allen and Donald and 2 sisters, Esther and Margaret.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; 4 sons, James of Gallipolis, OH, Richard of Davenport, Leo, Kansas City, MO, Kenneth, Port Lavaca, TX; 2 daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Patricia) Davis of Lanark, and Mrs. James (Mary Ellen) Bradford of Guthrie Center; 25 grandchildren,and 1 great grandchild; one brother, Dr. Louis of Tulsa, OK; and 3 sisters, Genevieve Utt of Eden, ID and Lorena Buman and Mary McIntosh of Tucson.
