Ronald Schrader
Ronald H. Schrader, 71, of Monona, passed away at his home, Wednesday, November 23, 2005, surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 26, 2005, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, with Rev. Christopher Staley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home in Monona was in charge of arrangements.
Ronald was born March 23, 1934, in Luana to Eldo and Fredena (Krueger) Schrader. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, where he has been a lifelong member. Ronald graduated from Luana High School in 1951.
November 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Sander at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. To this union they were blessed with five children. Ronald and Marjorie lived and operated the Schrader Century Farm until August of 2001, when they moved to their present home in Monona. Ronald enjoyed woodworking, country music, photography, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Schrader of Monona; his five children, Debra (Bill) Murphy of Royal Oak, Mich., Douglas (Karla) Schrader of Luana, Denise (Hall) Everman of Postville, David Schrader of Mason City, and Dawn (David) Mueller of Garnavillo; 15 grandchildren, Brian, Stephen, and Timothy Murphy, Brant and Burke Schrader, Brandi (Matt) Triggs, Bobbi Jo (Kevin) Baxter, Blair and Blake Everman, Andrew and Amy Schrader, and Matthew, Abbigail, Amanda, and Ryan Mueller; a sister, Eileen (Norbert) Lembke of Monona; brothers and sisters-in-law, Murtis (Raymond) Friederich of Postville, Burnell (Gloria) Sander of Postville, Daryl (Norma) Sander of Postville, and Yvonne Groth of Ridgeway; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Carmen (Henkes) Schrader.
Honorary casketbearers were LaVerne and Norma Landt, Romandus and Joan Gisleson, Idella Landt, and Marlyn Nuehring. Casketbearers were his grandsons, Brian Murphy, Stephen Murphy, Timothy Murphy, Brant Schrader, Burke Schrader, Andrew Schrader, Blair Everman, Blake Everman, Matthew Mueller, and Ryan Mueller.
