Anna "Annie" Topel

Mrs. Annie Topel Passes Away

Mrs. Anna "Annie" Topel, daughter of Jacob and Mary Plozel Sudol was born Feb. 16, 1894, in Giard Township. She passed away very suddenly at her home on April 16, 1972, after an illness of four months.

Annie was taken into the home of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Charles Schmitt at the age of seven years and lived there until she was united in marriage. She was educated in a rural school in Giard Township.

She was united in marriage to Clarence Topel in Monona on June 9, 1920. There were two children born to this marriage, a son Robert, who passed away at birth and a daughter, Mary (Mrs. Ted Richardson) of Monona.

Annie was a member of Pilgrim United Methodist Church and also a member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service. She was a very active member until the time of her illness. She was also a member of the Woman's Relief Corp.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Robert, two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary; three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Miller and Mrs. Lena Cahal of Nashua, Ia., and Mrs. Mary Downing of Miller, South Dakota; one grandchild and one great-grandchild, other relatives and a host of friends.

Services were held at Pilgrim United Methodist Church on April 19, 1972, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Raymond W. Pacholke officiating.

Pallbearers were George Heins, Irving Schlerholz, Ernest Lenth, James Gerdes, Telmer Olson and Ed Cordes.
