Funeral Rites Held For Roy Tapper
Funeral services for Rupert Roy Tapper, 87, were held Tuesday morning, June 3, at 10:30 o'clock at the Schultz Funeral home in Monona with Rev. Paul V. Clements of the Monona United Methodist church officiating.
Burial was in the Monona City cemetery.
Mr. Tapper died Sunday, June 1, at the Postville hospital where he was taken for medical care May 26.
He was born Dec. 6, 1881, in Giard township, a son of John Henry and Wilhelmine Jane, nee Massey, Tapper. He was educated in the Monona schools. He was a farmer and farmed the home farm in Giard township, where he lived his entire life.
He was married to Clara Sophia Ziegler, Nov. 23, 1904, in Monona. Mrs. Tapper died Jan. 9, 1949.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his wife, were his son, Willard LeRoy Tapper, July 26, 1967; a daughter, Maria June Valley, July 13, 1948; one grandchild, Baby Alen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Tapper; a brother, Lewis, who died in infancy; and a sister, Mae Kubitz.
Surviving are two sons, Bruce Z. of San Bernardino, Calif., and Woodrow W. of Davenport; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Music at the services was provided by Mrs. George Martin, soloist. Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz was the accompanist.
Pallbearers were: Walter Drahn, Alvin Gilster, Don Hubacher, Neil Meyer, Lee Tapper, and Paul Carlin.
