Death Takes Mrs. Eckart At Her Home - Widow of Late John P. Eckart Passes Monday - Rites April 12, 1950.
Mrs. Linnie K. Eckart, Widow of the late John P. Eckart, died at her home here this Monday morning at 1:50 o'clock. Mrs. Eckart was only a few days less than 78 years of age.
Funeral services for Mrs. Eckart were held Wednesday afternoon from St. Paul's Lutheran church in charge of Rev. J. F. Eshbaugh, pastor, and burial was in the Guttenberg City cemetery in charge of the Tuecke funeral home.
Pallbearers for the service were L. W. Abel, Herman Ihm, Fred Friedlein, Emmett Dubbels, A. C. Becker and A. C. Gilbertz.
Mrs. Linnie Borman Eckart was born May 2, 1872, at Elkader, the daughter of August and Wilhelmina Kottman Borman. She received her early education in Elkader and later taught in the Clayton county schools.
On July 31, 1894, she was married to John P. Eckart of Guttenberg at Elkader and she had since made her home here. She was a past worthy matron of the Pearl Chapter, O. E. S. and in 1947 was awarded a fifty year life membership certificate in the organization.
Mrs. Eckart is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Una W. Vermilya, Mrs. Agnes G. Tangeman, and Mrs. Ila H. Schweikert, as well as by eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter and a brother, A. H. Borman. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by Mr. Eckart, three sons, Harold, Lauren and John P. Jr., and one daughter Mrs. Olga D. Eberhard. A sister, Mrs. Anna Schumacher, and a brother, George, also preceded her in death.
