Latta Rites are Held on Wednesday - Resident of Turkey River Passes Sunday - 82 Years old

Arthur W. Latta, well known resident of the Turkey River community, died at his home Sunday. (March 16, 1947). Mr. Latta had been in failing health for some time.

Dr. Fox in Charge - Funeral services for Mr. Latta were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Beerman funeral parlors in charge of Dr. H. Clifford Fox, pastor of the Guttenberg Methodist Church and dean of Dubuque University. Music for the services was made up of hymns composed by Mr. Latta's father, a Methodist minister in his lifetime and the author of some fifteen hundred hymns and poems.

Burial was in the Guttenberg City cemetery beside the body of his father and of a son who preceded him in death. Pallbearers were Arthur Brown, George Brown, Ed Schweikert, Leonard Mikota, Charles Meyers and Fred Schrunk.

Born in Denison - Arthur Wright Latta, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eden Reeder Latta, was born at Denison, Iowa on August 29, 1864. On June 27, 1906 he married Elnora Becker. They were the parents of four children. During his lifetime he was in the grocery business in Osterdock and during recent years had assisted his wife who is postmistress in the Turkey River postoffice. He was a member of the Modern Woodman and IOOF lodges.

Mr. Latta is survived by Mrs. Latta, a daughter, Mrs. Helen Tiffany, of Wisconsin, and two sons, Roliffe A. Latta of Guttenberg and Arthur W. Latta Jr. of Ames. An infant son preceded him in death, along with a brother and two sisters.
