Services for Mrs. James Shaw, Guttenberg, Iowa were held Saturday, June 9, 1962 at the Volga Methodist Church with burial in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Her husband James Shaw passed away May 30.
Mrs. Shaw passed away Thursday June 7, 1962 at a McGregor nursing home.

She is survived by two boys, Ola of Lindon, Wis., Kenneth of Cedar Rapids; Two girls, Mrs. Charles Coutant of Dubuque and Mrs. Otto O'Dell of Epworth; 20 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The Gill Funeral Chapel of Strawberry Point was in charge of arrangements.

The death of Mrs. James Shaw, 77, occurred Friday, June 8, 1962, at the McGregor hospital following a long illness.

She was the former Alta Mae Keilholtz, born August 31, 1884, to Hamilton Pratt Kielholtz [sic] and Ella Marble Kielholtz at Volga City.

She attended the Volga school and grew to womanhood in this community. she was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, also a member of the Rebekah lodge. Her husband Lee Tomkins, died in 1937.

Following her marriage to James Shaw, she made her home at Guttenberg the past 17 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Frawnfelter of Creston; a son, Robert Tomkins, Waterloo; four step-children, 24 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Leta Clark, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and other relatives. A foster daughter, Thelma Tomkins, died when a young girl.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Methodist Church with the Rev. Alfred Christensen officiating. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery.

Her husband, James Shaw, died ten days previous to her death. During the service, Mrs. Wallace Oldfather provided organ music and accompanied the vocalists, Miss Carol Moore and Miss Elaine Fellon.

Prior to being hospitalized at McGregor, Mrs. Shaw had been a patient at the Moser home in Strawberry Point for several months.
