Colesburg- Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church here last Thursday afternoon for Roscoe Bailey Stewart, 85 who died February 5, 1957 at the Delaware County Memorial hospital at Manchester. Mr. Stewart had been, until very recently, a lifelong resident of this community.
The services were conducted by Rev. George Youtzy, pastor of the church, and burial was in the Brown cemetery with six grandchildren as pallbearers; LeRoy, Gary, Ronald and Carl Stewart, Lloyd Amsden and Lavern Vandersee.
Born August 27, 1871 on a farm in Mallory township, Mr. Stewart was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Stewart.
He lived on the home farm for eighty years of his life until selling it to his son, Sam about five years ago, after which he lived for two years in a small home on the farm. For the past three years he had been in poor health and most of the time had lived in nursing homes.
On May 24, 1899, Mr. Stewart married Eva Stone who died on May 25, 1934. They were the parents of five children, three of whom died in infancy.
Mr. Stewart is survived by two sons, Sam who lives on the Stewart homestead in Mallory Township, and Ralph who lives near Fayette, Ia. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
