IN MEMORIUM

William Henry Scrogum, born May 28 1869, died Feb. 24, 1908

After a brief illness, which was not considered in the least serious, and during which he was able to be up and around the house, part of the time. Will, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Scrogum, died suddenly at the family home, Monday evening Feb. 21st, at 10:30 o'clock.

He had a sinking spell during the afternoon, and Dr. Clark was called and gave the best possible attention, aided by the loving care of the family. During the fore part of the evening he seemed resting comfortably, and about 10:30 o'clock arose from the bed and walked to the sitting room door, where his sisters and mother were sitting, and as he reached their side, he sank to the floor. Immediatly the family were at his side endeavoring to revive him, but the Angel of Death had borne the spirit back to the Maker, who doeth all for the best.

Those who are left to mourn, feel the sudden breaking up of the family circle, keenly.

The deceased was born at North McGregor and was the 2nd eldest of eight children, in a home where all were united by the deepest of brotherly love, and where all loved to gather with their parents around the hearthstone.

With the exception of three winters spent in Florida, his life was spent here.

The funeral services were held at the family residance, Wedensday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock, Rev. Williams preaching a splendid sermon from the text; 2nd Romans, 1st verse: "Therefore thou art inexcusable. O man, whosoever thou art that judgest. For wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself."

Many friends assembled to pay the last tribute of respect. The burial was at Oakland cemetery. The pallbearers were selected from among his schoolmates as follows: Tom O'Donnell, Tom Barr, Dan McCoy, Ed Burke, Will Wingen, and Ed Keen.

Those who mourn his death are, his parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Scrogum; sisters Mrs H. A. (Agnus) Schurtzman, Mrs. Chas. (Emma) Johnson, Mrs. M.E. (Jesse) Grady, and Kathryn Scrogum; brothers; George, Charles, and John Scrogum.
