Adolph Meyer services held on Saturday.
Native of Guttenberg operated cigar factory died Feb. 25.Funeral services were held Saturday from St. Mary's church for G. Adolph Meyer, well known native of Guttenberg, who died at 7:05 p.m. last Wednesday following a long illness. The requiem Mass was in charge of Rev. J.A. Dupont and burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Seventy-eight years of age at the time of his death, Mr. Meyer was born in Guttenberg December 7 1863, the son of Henry and Martina Meyer, who had come to Guttenberg from Germany. On June 28, 1904, he married Emma Burr and the couple had spent their entire married life in Guttenberg.
Old time residents of this entire territory were well acquainted with Mr Meyer and his brother, Alfred. The two have operated a cigar factory here for many years, a business that has been conducted by Alfred Meyer during the long illness of his partner. The cigar factory had been run by the two brothers for more than 42 years.Surviving are Mrs. Meyer, Alfred, and a sister, Mrs. Henry Schute, all of Guttenberg. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Pallbearers at the services Saturday were Arnold Burr of Garnavillo, Leo Burr, Ed Felder, Clarence Schute and Adolph Wolter.
