George Francis Auer
George Francis Auer, son of Edward Francis and Josephine Heck Auer, was born May 20, 1912 near Garnavillo, Iowa.
He died Monday, November 6, 1994 at Northgate Care Center, where he had resided the past seven years. He was 82 years old.
George received his education at the Bowden Country School. He had worked as a farm laborer.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Loras Auer, and two sisters, Laura Auer and Dorothy Auer.
Survivors include six sisters, Mrs. Ben (Leona) Voss of Monona, Mrs. Leo (Korona) Ohlert of Plover, Wis., Mrs. Joe (Gertrude) Rose of Monona, Mrs. Don (Mary Kathryn) Stein of Superior, Wis., Mrs. Lee (Eileen) Johanningmeier of McGregor, and Mrs. Tom (Angela) Hogan of Postville, and two brothers, Ralph Auer of Postville and Edward Auer of Independence, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 9, 1994 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona. Father John Moran officiated. Organist was Mrs. Barb Ruff. Pallbearers were Rick Johanningmeier, Tom Rose, Ed Auer, Jr., Tom Hogan, Jr., Don Voss and Terry Auer. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
