Funeral services for Charles L. Scrogum were held in the Pilkington funeral parlors at McGregor, Iowa on Friday January 17, 1947 with the Rev. A. H. Grossheim of Waukon, Iowa, officiating.
Pallbearers were: Frank Galliagher, Will Wingen, Tony Snyder, Herbert Bickel, Chet Saeugling, and Frank Matthew. Burial was in Pleasent Grove cemetery at McGregor, Iowa.
Charles Louis Scrogum was born September 12, 1874, at Marquette, Iowa, son of Jacob and Charlotte Scrogum, early settlers of this community.
Early in his life he entered the fish and ice business with his father and continued in this business until 1940 when he retired.
On February 23, 1897, he was united in marriage with Grace Ann Dickens. To this union three children were born.
Most of his life was spent in the Marquette-McGregor vicinity. After several months illness at the home of his daughter, Ila Runneberg, at Havelock, Iowa, he was taken to the Emmetsburg Hospital where he passed away on Wednesday morning, January 15, 1947.
Surviving are his widow, a son, Earl of Chicago, Illinois, and two daughters, Mrs Vivian Lee, Rawlins, Wyoming,, and Mrs Ila Runneberg, Havelock, Iowa; two grandchildren, Charles and Marian Grace Runneberg; two sisters, Mrs Emma Johnson and Mrs Kathryn Ross, both of Marquette, Iowa; one niece and three nephews
