Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, Iowa was in charge of the funeral services which were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 05, 2007 at United Methodist Church, Guttenberg, Iowa with
interment in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, Iowa.Byron Franklin Olinger, age 93, of Guttenberg, IA, died Friday, March 2, 2007, at Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg, IA. He was born to James and Attilia (Chandler) Olinger on December 28, 1913, in Afton, Iowa. Byron graduated from the Afton High School, farmed and then worked for the Telephone Company for 37 years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, golfing, riding horses and playing cards. He was a 60-year Masonic lodge member and a charter member of Eagles Aerie #4114.
He is survived by his wife Ann Olinger; one daughter, Nancy (Richard) Stafford of Tempe, Arizona, one son, James (Marilyn) Olinger of Shambaugh, Iowa, two step-daughters, Phoebe (Rick) Johnson of Guttenberg and Louise (Eric) Loeffelholz of Earlville, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and eleven step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Mary “Faye”, one brother, Orel, one sister, Neva and two granddaughters, Chelsea and Christine.
