Irene Wilker

Funeral services for Irene Wilker were held Monday Set. 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona. Pastor Harold O Ward officiating. Organist was Mrs. Florence Evans; the soloist was Dean Schultz. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.

Irene Magdalene Voelzke Wilker was born, October 7, 1911, in Monona to parents Frank and Amelia Jarms Voelzke. She was baptized October 29, 1911 and confirmed August 23, 1925 in the Lutheran faith. She was educated in the Monona school.

On November 21, 1935 Irene was united in marriage to George J. Wilker at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona. They were parents of one daughter. The couple lived in Monona all their married years. Irene worked as a bookkeeper in the Standard Oil Business she and her husband owned from 1939 until retiring in 1974.

Irene died at her home Friday, Sept. 23, following a long illness. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Peace Circle.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and two brothers, Carlton Voelzke and Milton Voelzke.

Surviving is her husband, George; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Merle Gordon of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Darci Knowlton, Kristin Gordon and Tim Gordon and brother, Lyle Voelzke of Prairie du Chien, WI.

Pallbearers were Tim Gordon, Jim Knowlton, Rick Sather, Jason Voelzke, Audene Voelzke and Mark Gratace.

Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, in charge of services.
