Robert W. Wettleson

Funeral service for Robert W. Wettleson was held Wednesday, June 5, 1991, 11 a.m. in the Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder. The Rev. William Palmquist officiated. Special music was provided by Arthur Amundson and the Sunday Morning News Ensemble. Audrey Palmquist was the organist. Military services were performed by the Clayton County Amvets. The Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Robert Wayne Wettleson, son of Robert Benjamin and Mary (Bigler) Wettleson, was born May 18, 1929 at Postville, IA. He died Sunday morning, June 2, 1991, in Methodist Hospital, Rochester, MN.

He was baptized June 9, 1929, and confirmed June 27, 1943, both by the Rev. S. J. Strandjord in the Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, He attended the McNeil Country School and was graduated from Postville High School in 1946. Robert served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

On October 25, 1958, he was married to Wanda Breitsprecher in the Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia. To this union two children were born. They farmed on the Wettleson family farm all of their lives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Ann Anderson, and two nephews, David Anderson and Rodney Schnuelle.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda; a son, Marcus, Postville; a daughter, Kimberly, Rochester, MN; a brother, Roger and his wife, Carol, Postville, and a sister, Lois and her husband, Raymond Schnuelle, Castalia, and many other relatives and friends.

Robert was a lifetime member of the Marion Lutheran Church and was presently serving as president of the Church Council. He had also been a member of the Clayton County Amvets and a Grand Meadow Township Trustee.

Casket bearers were Ronald Meyer, Stephen Woods, Jim Farmer, VerDean Radloff, Terry Hogan, Quinton Olson, Wendell Meyers, Gerald Schneider.

Honorary casket bearers were: Cecil Shannon, Verle Schlueter, Milton Schmidt, Gene Schultz.
